i have noticed a lot of people have been using lo-fi hip hop instrumentals as study music
my fave "lo-fi" artist is fat jon.. he was doing it before it was really a thing the first time i heard the term "lo-fi" was from danger mouse when he was describing making his beats for gnarls barkley anyway.. i used to listen to fat jon a lot in the background while i was doing things- it was good background music however i just want to point out other good background music shoegaze and drum and bass are both great genres for background music drum and bass in my experience was great for homework.. the constant fast drum beats had a way of kinda making me feel like i was doing more than i actually was doing.. drum and bass is sort of like the type of music u would put on for a car race, like something that involves concentration but it also has an element of being action oriented.. and so the concentration aspect mixed with the action element helps your brain to keep going imo shoegaze is like.. imo if shoegaze was a painting, it would be purposely blurred and smeared, but you would still be able to make out what the painting is presenting.. that "blurry" or "noisy" nature is great because its like u are hearing the song but not concentrating on the song.. it has an element that allows u to tune out.. it doesn't take your attention away from what u are doing, you can keep it on and stimulate your brain while u do things, but u won't end up losing your concentration on whatever ur doing so those are the genres i would say are great for background music or studying when it comes to specific bands i've used for concentration.. here are some deftones curve orgy fat jon honorable mention to nada surf
