"don't be so heavenly minded that ur no earthly good"
ok, i just found out this^ saying isn't found anywhere in the bible, and is actually very unbiblical.. throughout my life i have heard this saying a lot and i probably hear it more than most people because i actually care about, think about, and am inquisitive about the things of God and heaven and how to live a righteous lifestyle now that i know that that saying which i've heard repeatedly is not biblical, it wipes a lot of confusion away here are some scriptures which are in direct contrast with that saying: "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." matthew 6:19-21 "If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." colossians 3:1-2 "If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this." - quote i found from c.s. lewis ok so basically.. to further expound on why i'm writing this.. people tell me i think about heaven "too much" or they say things to me like "it don't take all that to get into heaven" if i question something they have never considered, then people tell me to "stop being so spiritual" or "stop being so deep" i am tired of this and i am seeing that these people are deceived in some ways and in their ignorance, they are deceiving others "beware of false prophets.... you will know them by their fruits" matthew 7:15 people may come up to u and say things like "why are you being so deep?" or in other words: "why are you trying to live holy?" "why are you on the narrow path?" "God doesn't mind if you cut loose or sin" "why are you seeking the truth so much?" what are these people ultimately saying? what is the "fruit" of what they are saying? should i listen to these people? because my Bible says: "....work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (in other words, take it seriously and try to LEARN righteousness) philippians 2:12 "my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..." hosea 4:6 "enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life and there are few who find it." matthew 7:13-14 so am i thinking about heaven and how to get there "too much" ? am i being "too deep" about spiritual things? i guess it depends on what team ur playin for i know what side i'm on, and i'm stayin heavenly minded.. so everyone who keeps giving me a hard time about it is really in for it from now on lolz LETS GO!!!!
