spoiler alert.. if u haven't played the last of us.. play it before u read this
i want to talk about why the last of us was such a good game its definitely one of the best games of all time without question 1. the intro the introduction of the game was just so enthralling you start out as the main character's daughter u kinda know she is going to die so as u start out controlling her your head is filled with "oh sh*t what's about to happen!?" i thought she'd be attacked by a clicker in the house so i was walking around slow as f*ck! LOL 2. clickers clickers are a really cool enemy.. they remind me of the helghast from killzone.. they're that enemy in games u love to hate.. they have a sort of interesting frightening appeal another thing i like about clickers is their name.. clickers the name sorta brings me to a whole other point about the game.. and that's how true-to-life it is the name clicker is totally like a name that would catch on in real life if people were turning into those things what i'm saying is.. when you watch tv or news and something happens, the name the phenomena gets is always something immediately identifiable and it sticks things always start out as like a nickname, next thing you know it becomes a historical thing or maybe even a verb! the actual name "clicker" is so true to reality, and how we speak and communicate in society that i think its kindof like an easily identifiable marker of the perception that went into the game as a whole 3. henry henry was super likable.. he was my fave character in the game.. i loved everything about him.. he was just so cool, i like how he took care of his little brother.. i respected him for that.. he was really friendly and aware too and his acting was phenomenal.. i mean all the performances were good but man.. the guy who played henry was just intense and so damn natural! wow! (btw my 2nd fave character was joel's brother.. and my 3rd fave character was joel) 4. combat WOW. the combat in this game is legitimately a few steps above combat in other games.. one thing i have to point out is the fact that after fiddling with the game for the first few hours, i realized that the game is totally intuitive what i mean is.. you and joel become one.. you don't really play the game by video game rules.. u play by the rules of reality.. like you really have to think "what would i do in real life?" and that will be the key to your success its not like u run into a room full of clickers and start shooting.. its like you really have to go about it the same way u'd have to in reality.. this makes the game much more compelling than most games its like a big strategy game and a huge adrenaline rush at the same time.. WOW 5. weapon sounds exceptionally excellent and add to the brutality and serious nature of the game 6. mood the mood of this game is like.. a hopeless sort of mood.. and it doesn't let up.. its brutal and because it doesn't let up, you begin to sortof merge into that world.. u begin to see what its like when need trumps virtue.. the game is just so good because it doesn't do what's fun or appealing.. it does what is necessary and true to this environment, story, and characters 7. graphics/presentation great job.. environments are huge.. no invisible walls.. great and necessary effects at appropriate times.. juxtaposing different scenes, etc.. facial animations.. oh and another thing.. it never feels like a character is doing stock moves in a static environment.. this game really seems like real people doing real things in real environments.. like outside with nothing around joel might just punch someone out.. but next to a wall joel might ram a person's head into it.. or next to a desk he might bash their head on the corner of it.. and u feel the impact of everything the graphics are not just good looking but also well done as far as like animations or motion capture or whatever.. joel doesn't move around like a spaz like nathan drake did 8. item system excellent.. having rpg elements really amps it up and takes it from a mindless run and gun to a more strategic game.. and it also allows for more player customization 9. mystery a lot of the game is left of to interpretation.. this not only lets players discuss a lot but it also allows for very rich and compelling sequels to come in the future 10. real characters back when i used to play resident evil one thing i quickly realized was that the characters were not normal people they'd go in a room and see a giant mutant lizard that walks on its hind legs and never would you hear them say "WHAT THE F*CK IS THAT!?" but in the last of us, characters actually do have those true to life reactions to things i remember i always had a problem with resident evil because the characters had no fear.. i mean i understood it because they were special ops agents.. but i always wanted to play with a real person who would be saying things like "oh sh*t!" or some kind of normal response to what they were seeing the last of us was the first game i played where the stimuli was properly addressed.. people were actually talking about what was going on and showing emotions about it.. this makes the game a lot better than a resident evil or an uncharted anyway.. i just had to speak on that.. the game was literally way better than i ever expected .. a must buy if u don't have it
