i was saying to someone that i want some good references.. ones that are outside the realm of my friends and family
how can you feel any real sense of independence if you have to go through every person you know to get into a position? also if one person you know gives a reference, chances are they will tell someone else you know, and that person will tell someone else you know.. so for a few days everyone around you is like "hey i heard such and such job called you" .. i don't know if this bothers you guys, but i'm apparently a private person because i hate this type of crap i don't like people talking about me behind my back unless its more of an impersonal relationship.. then i don't mind it so much so as a result.. i decided on two solutions 1. do volunteer work and get a reference from one or two people in that realm 2. bribes now.. i told someone about the bribe thing and someone said i shouldn't do it.. what about you? do you think its legit? i want to give my stance on this: ok... i'm sorry but this is the real world and if i've learned anything from college its this: its not how you follow the rules, its how you succeed. in college they tell you to read a 500page book but you can watch the movie instead they tell you to take a test without using the internet or your textbook but you know that everyone else in the class is going to use them so why should you be the only person who doesn't? look, i'll even give a real life example: ok.. one time in a class i had at belmont university, a sociology teacher told us to interview a minority outside of our own race now.. this was fairly simple for white people because there were a few black people walking around however i would've had to somehow find an asian person, or an indian, or a hispanic person in order to finish my assignment.. anyone who has been to belmont knows its like 95% white and then there are some blacks and finding other races after that is like finding a needle in a haystack long story short i made up my interview and got an A on the assignment i HAD to in order to finish the dang thing.. if i followed the rules i would've just failed the assignment.. who the f*ck was i supposed to interview? my point is.. life is not about following "rules" whether written or unwritten to the T.. no instead its about using your own creativity to get what you want without doing something too far outside the realm of the law or social norms so... to me the bribe idea is madd legit right now i'm working on volunteer work references.. but honestly if i need to i will break someone off to help me out to me its just being strategic.. you can't fault a guy for using what he has to get what he wants i just think sometimes today its important to come up with a creative way around bureaucratic society and it's endless array of red tape
