ok so i just finished killzone 3 and so i went online and started looking at reviews for the game to see what other people thought i was very disappointed to see the reviews are just rubbish.. so i decided to make my own review the main problem with the reviews is they are not giving this game the credit it deserves and they are downgrading the score for things that make no sense for example people are saying the story is bad.. that makes no sense for a lot of reasons 1. the story is captivating and not only on one or two parts, i mean the whole game.. you have to think, you start out the game AS A HELGHAST SOLDIER! so you are immediately like "what's going on?!" and as the story goes on you learn more and more and the story has a great climax 2. this story is far more fleshed out than kz2's story was.. i honestly don't understand how killzone 3 has so much more of an effort put into the story than kz2 but some of these reviewers are still citing the story as being horrible.. how does that make any sense? exactly, it doesn't 3. killzone 3 has great dialogue (as did the 2nd one) .. some of these reviewers say the characters are flat.. it makes no sense.. they are fighting in a war.. these are soldiers.. they are true to the source material.. i don't understand what these reviewers are thinking.. like what do you want the characters to do? quote shakespeare? THEY ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR.. also i would like to say i live in a military town and killzone is very true to how soldiers act they are sane but at the same time they aren't sane at all.. sane enough to carry out a mission but at the same time they have to be very detached to the consequences of the mission.. killzone's characters are true to this 4. they are saying the segments where they show the innerworkings of the helghast are lame or boring.. this is not true.. ok for one you have to realize this is our first time really getting to understand the helghast and how they operate.. we get to see their pros and cons, we get to see their arguments and how their own pride and arrogance is sometimes their downfall.. how this is "boring," or "out of place," or "flat" is completely beyond me 5. they diss how the time skips around.. ok this serves a number of purposes in the game.. it helps to build suspense first of all, because you wonder how you got to be in the situations you are in and essentially as you play you fill in more and more details.. and another thing they are not touching on is this dynamic allowed for a good learning curve.. kz2 literally drops you off in the middle of a war zone with NO TRAINING WHATSOEVER.. i died on that shore in kz2 like a million times!!!! but killzone 3 eases you into gameplay by walking you around and easing you into gunplay, weaponry, controls, etc.. if you play you'll see what i mean.. and another thing.. no one complained about time skipping around in uncharted 2.. the time thing is very similar to that game.. its not a negative its a positive ok now that i got over the stupid things people are saying about the story lets talk about the other aspects of the game graphics: the graphics on this game are perfect .. seriously this game is gorgeous on so many levels that it is absolutely astounding.. on a technical as well as artistic level.. also the attention to detail is 2nd to none.. this game pulls off amazing things like look at the water on the alaskan shores as the waves crash around you... look at the robots that are literally the size of skyscrapers.. like seriously the graphics are just AMAZING sound: the sound is also perfect.. i hook my ps3 up to fairly large stereo speakers and the sound is just incredible.. personally, one of my fave aspects is the voice of the helghast soldiers.. love that the guns and overall ambient noise, vocal work.. everything is just done extremely well gameplay: gameplay is more dynamic than kz2.. killzone 3 has more emphasis on melee and also has some parts where you sneak around instead of just go out guns blazing.. it also has a lot of different physical elements like the jet-packs and various ships and vehicles.. it also has a segment where the gravity is de-activated so you end up shooting people and watching them fly away or throwing grenades that never touch the ground what i'm saying is.. the gameplay is more dynamic and diverse than in kz2.. its a lot more fun and there are more ways to do things.. its a lot more than just point and shoot in killzone 3 story: i talked about this but just let me say, the story is literally like over 4 times as long as kz2's was it is fleshed out and the very complex, captivating, and entertaining.. kz2's story was just kinda something to get you from place to place.. killzone 3's story is really a marvel to behold controls: same as kz2 but a little better because selecting your guns is a tad bit easier.. just tap one directional pad button loading: ok this was another area where reviewers were saying things that made no sense one guy said "the game fades in and out too much" LOL that is part of the game's mood.. it has nothing to do with loading.. seriously fade outs are for dramatic effect after a segment of story .. would you say there are too many fade-outs in a movie? like how do you even come up with something that dumb .. that's like saying "the credits were too long" like really? as for the ACTUAL loading.. they said it took them out of the experience.. this is very stupid for two reasons 1. the game nearly has NO LOADING TIME AT ALL!!!!!! once an hour the game will stop for half a second IF THAT!!! its not even a real load its like a stutter.. you would literally miss it if you blinked.. to say this takes you out of the experience is just absurd 2. the game literally loads like less than half the amount of time kz2 loaded.. AND EVEN THAT WAS EXTREMELY SHORT!!!!! kz2 would be like a 2 second load, tops.. killzone 3 is like a half second.. so i just don't get why they would bellyache about this at all.. like come on that is ridiculous!!! multiplayer: i haven't done it yet.. just finished the campaign overall: i personally found no real flaws to the game.. it actually exceeded my expectations and i loved kz2! i totally don't understand how so many reviewers gave killzone 3 a worse review than kz2 when killzone 3 improves so much on kz2 psmove capability, better graphics, 3-d capability, split-screen co-op, better longer and more complex story, better learning curve than kz2's "throw them to the wolves" method, more dynamic gameplay with the espionage, more vehicles, and added emphasis on melee.. like i really just don't see why this game doesn't get that "grade-A game" status it deserves!!! KILLZONE 3 IS INCREDIBLE!!!!! at the end of the day i am severely disappointed in the editors who reviewed this game poorly.. i find it sad that these editors are so...... let me put it like this.. ign gave pac-man dx a 10 and gave killzone 3 an 8.5 i rest my case. (update a few weeks later) ign didn't put metal gear solid 4 in their top 25 ps3 games list.. that's when i stopped paying attention to them completely
