ok here's my take on the whole john mayer playboy interview:
john said some dumb things however he has always said dumb things in his interviews he has always enjoyed a certain dichotomy in his career and that is the fact that he is so loved by girls and their moms that he can basically do no wrong.. he can say and/or do anything and still be considered an attractive 'stud' or 'catch' because he is completely aware of this, he has always said dumb things in interviews because to him its just plain funny.. he has always enjoyed the absurdity of saying dumb things but having people act like they didn't hear it i remember i first noticed this back in about 05 when blender magazine was really big he would say the most ridiculous things and even go so far as to take dumb unattractive pictures to go with his statements.. and i don't know if u guys remember when john mayer had a little week-long show on mtv where he walked around in a bear costume in the parking lot at one of his concerts.. and he tortured young women by serenading them and then saying someone else wrote all his music LOL so, my point is, i'm not saying what he said in playboy was ok, but he's been pushing the limits for years, and he finally, after years of wilin' out, went a bit too far some of that stuff he said wasn't even wrong, but being a public figure there are certain things u should maybe tiptoe around.. for example its not bad to only like a certain race of women, however if u have a mic in front of ur face, u probably should just say, "i haven't had the opportunity to date outside of my race yet" and leave it at that as far as using the n-word, like i said, he's been pushing things for a while, being funny, ridiculous, and "edgy" in his interviews, enjoying the fact that he can fart and girls will act as if it never happened so yeah he probably shouldn't have said some of that stuff, but that's just his humor, when u look at the interview, the entire thing was dumb, not just the parts about black people personally i dont hold anything against him.. in my estimation his humor just backfired a bit.. he put his foot in his mouth, a slip up in an attempt to continue his status for humorous interviews honest mistake in my opinion and yes i hate racism, i used to deal with racism daily growing up being the only black guy in my grade, however sometimes the most racist people became my best friends with time, this in my opinion gave me a bit more depth of vision.. some people are literally plagued with hatred, however some people just dnt know when a joke isn't funny anymore if ur black and ur reading this, be patient with white people who may not understand what is offensive if ur white, maybe be more considerate here and there, cuz even tho its 2010 our country does have a history and the wounds r still fresh in a sense
