more and more i find myself seeing through the mindless consumerism that is promoted today
basically you buy something and 6 months later its no longer the "coolest" or the "best" why? planned obsalescence companies plan to make your products obsolete somehow.. either by making you feel like what you have is inadequate or literally just making products not last long since making a product not last very long can be thin ice.. (because it affects customer loyalty) the main way they get you to buy more things is by releasing newer and "better" versions of what you already have it happens pretty much across the board fashion, video games, electronics, cars, and more this is happening more and more in video games lately since they now have online capability.. developers put out a game that is essentially 60% finished, and sell you the other 40% 3 months later as a download "buy buy buy" just seems to be in society's dna not to make this about video games but nintendo keeps putting out new versions of their handheld the 'ds' they will come out with one with 4 hour battery life and a 4 inch screen then literally a year later they will put out one with 6 hour battery life and a 6 inch screen you have brainless customers or should i say consumers- who thank nintendo for releasing the same thing but better at a higher price.. they thank nintendo for making what they bought just one year prior seem stupid and irrelevant do u think nintendo didn't plan this whole thing out? do u think nintendo couldn't have just put out the 6 inch screen with 6 hour battery life in the first place? trust me, they could have, but they planned to make their first model obsolete.. planned obsalescence = more money from mindless consumerism a smart customer will say, i like my 'ds' just fine or better yet, they'll say.. you know what? screw nintendo.. i will give up video games and spend more time at the gym or doing homework or hanging with my family but most people want their trinkets in whatever form they come in oh this fashion is 'in' now oh that car model is outdated oh that tv doesn't have 3-d the car thing really trips me out btw.. no cars are that much different from others.. they all use gas, and drive and have power steering, power windows, air conditioning, and stereo sound but a person will pay $30,000 more for an insignia.. a logo.. its all a perceived value as opposed to ACTUAL value if i buy a $20,000 v-6 and you buy a $50,000 v-6.. guess what? aside from minor cosmetics- we bought the same thing anyway, i just wanted to say a few things about consumerism mainly- watch out for it think about what i said and see how you might be being nickel-and-dimed in some (not so subtle anymore) way shape or form once you realize what is going on then you are able to make better decisions with your money and even take back a great deal of your self-worth.. as the saying goes- the truth shall make you free
